The Boys Season 5 arrives on April 8 2026 on Prime Video. That is 19 days from today. If you have been waiting since the Season 4 finale aired back in July 2024, this is nearly over.

When Does Each Episode Come Out
Two episodes land on April 8. After that, one new episode every Wednesday until the series finale on May 20 2026. There are eight episodes in total.
April 8 is the two-episode premiere. The finale is called Blood and Bone and drops May 20. Karl Urban has already confirmed there are fatalities right from the first episode, so do not expect a slow start.
Where Things Left Off at the End of Season 4
Homelander is fully in control of the United States. The Boys were captured by Vought soldiers after the Season 4 cliffhanger. Hughie, Mother's Milk and Frenchie are locked up in something being called a Freedom Camp. Annie is trying to organise a resistance. Kimiko has disappeared. And Butcher, who turned against the rest of the team in the Season 4 finale, has reappeared with a plan to use a virus that would wipe every single supe off the planet, including himself.
That is where Season 5 picks up, six months after the Gen V Season 2 finale.
What Season 5 Is Actually About
Homelander wants the original V-One formula from Gen V Season 2 because it would make him functionally immortal. Butcher wants to use a supe-killing virus to end the threat permanently, knowing it would also kill him. Those two things are on a collision course and everything else in the season builds around that.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has described it as the show's version of the apocalypse and said he always planned five seasons from the beginning. After the Season 4 finale, he put it simply: there is no way a show goes another season after what happened there.
The Supernatural Reunion
If you watched Supernatural you will appreciate this. Eric Kripke created both shows. Jensen Ackles has been in The Boys since Season 3 as Soldier Boy. Now Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins are both joining Season 5 in undisclosed roles. The three of them are in the same show together for the first time since Supernatural ended in 2020. Kripke has confirmed Soldier Boy is back in a significant role this season, with the unexplored father and son dynamic between him and Homelander finally getting proper screen time.
The Gen V Characters Are Crossing Over
If you have not watched Gen V Season 2 yet, it is worth doing before April 8. The showrunner has confirmed the Gen V kids are part of the resistance storyline in Season 5, and the way Gen V Season 2 ends feeds directly into where The Boys picks up. You will not be completely lost without it but you will miss context.
Is This Actually the Last Season
Yes. Kripke announced it himself in June 2024 and both Sony Pictures Television and Amazon have been consistent on this. There are no plans to reverse it. The show is ending on its own terms, which the people behind it have been clear was always the intention.
